When the Covid pandemic began in early 2020, Phil noticed a bed sheet hanging out of a window where a huge sign had been drawn saying, “We aren’t dying of Covid, we’re dying of hunger.” The government had mandated that the people close their shops and stay inside. People were desperately hungry. Very little government assistance was offered, especially in the more rural areas. We prayed, and God gave Phil His plan for this project.

 

Knowing we couldn’t accomplish God’s plan without our ministry partners, we named this endeavor Project 5000 because we knew this was something only God could do. We announced it to everyone we knew, and the support grew. We began to put food bags together and take them out to communities, along with Bibles and sharing the gospel.

 

Project 5000 continues in Mexico, and has now spread to Georgia where we take food to those in need. It’s our goal to start a Bible study at the home where we take a food bag and share the gospel. This sometimes leads to making disciples.
